The Season

Ok, it's that time of year again, and let me tell you, I am SO EXCITED!!!  I can't wait until the day after Thanksgiving so we can put the tree up and get all the lights up and everything...OH! I am getting so excited just typing it!
However, this year will be a little different.  Instead of me being down for the count with a 9 month pregnant belly and a broken foot, it's Paul's turn. No, he's not pregnant (though that would be nice if he could take care of the third one) but Paul is getting hernia surgery on Tuesday. Yep, he's going under the knife and will be out of work for A LONG TIME. A really long time. This is a true test for us since I have never been Paul's caretaker before, it's usually me with all the issues and Paul caring for me. Paul's not one to let people take care of him either. Ugh. This could either be a great learning experience for both of us, OR it could be the worst 2 months of our lives.
So, it looks like I am cooking Thanksgiving dinner, by myself, getting the tree and the lights up by myself, and in between taking care of 2 kids, a dog and my recovering husband, I'll try to get Christmas cards and presents in the mail. Phew.

Craig was in his early 20's when he had hernia surgery at Lejune. He said he was miserable for a week, still pretty bad for the 2nd week, and then it was good enough to survive for the next 2 weeks. The 2nd month he was on light duty but feeling much better. All in all - not TOO terribly long (and at least you'll be together for the holidays, which is more than I can say for many...) So you have the right attitude - learning experience, bonding, and know when to get out for a cup of coffee and some ME time! :) Men have no threshold for pain, be ready! Good luck, Abbey. let me know if you need anything!
