The other day at school, while waiting to pick up Ethan, Hannah cut her head open on a metal gate latch. The cut was small but deep, and the amount of blood was unnerving. We took her to the ER and they ended up glueing it and it already looks much better.
However, I was holding her hand while they glued it and was trying to distract her, so I made jokes like, "they're doing a craft project! Maybe they'll put glitter on you head! Or feathers! Or googly eyes!"
When we left, she promptly asked where her glitter, feathers and eyes were. So that lead to the creation of this headband :)
All the good names were taken.
Stop the madness.

Warning, blood ahead!
This whole week has been enough of a week for me and it's not even over yet.
> Yesterday, while picking up Ethan from school, Hannah took it upon herself to run all the way home by herself. Her answer as to why? "because I wanted to." ugh. Luckily she was safe, but the fact that she got all the way home and inside so quickly is just another reminder of how fast things can happen when you turn around for one second.
> As if that weren't enough, last night (yes it all happened in one day) grant fell off the couch (read: Hannah kicked him off) and split his ear open on the corner of the coffee table. We didn't take him to the ER last night because there wasn't a lot of blood and it clotted pretty quick. This morning though, the swelling and bruising made it look a lot worse so after taking him to the pediatrician, they had us take him to the ER to see if they might need to stitch it. Paul took him and I took E and H home. We made him some get well cards and waited for their return.
> After a short 2 hour visit, they decided there wasn't really anything they could do because of the location on his ear. So he's home now and we've just got to keep it clean and keep ointment on it.
> This kid is a head injury magnet, so I'm hoping he doesn't hit it again before it heals. :/
> He's doing much better than me, as you can tell by the smiles below. I'm a stress case though and wondering what's on the slate for tomorrow???!!!

Hannah's Been Canned
Saturday, the kids were playing in the house and make believing as usual when all of a sudden, Hannah cries out. This is not unusual, sometimes a simple thing like someone shutting the door, can provoke a blood curdling scream of terror from her, so I didn't freak out. I asked her what was wrong and she told me Grant had thrown a cup at her foot. I thought, "Ok, not big deal, even if it was full of milk, a sippy cup can't do that much damage." I told her to sit down and it would feel better in a minute. Within an hour, her big toenail had turned completely purple and she was complaining about the pain. Wherever she moved, she walked on the side of her foot to avoid discomfort. Sunday morning she woke up and told me how her foot hurt still. I took one look at it and realized this was no little boo boo. I asked her to show me what "cup" Grant threw at her, and she said, "come here, I'll show you." I replied," why don't you just go get it and bring it to me?"
She walks away and returns with a 16 oz can of Boston Baked Beans and states, "THIS is the cup he threw at me!"
Um, wow, go ahead and give me my 2012-Mom of the Year award. I felt terrible! I didn't take her seriously at all. Though she is similar to the boy who cried wolf, she obviously has a high pain tolerance as well!
We've debated taking her in as the toenail has now begun to lift off (I know; gag), but today, the pressure decided to relieve itself so there's no need for the doctor to do anything with it.
I will save the faint at heart from having to look at the pictures I took this morning, however, since I know some people in my family are weird...check them out at our flickr sight if you're curious. (the link is on the left)
I couldn't post it here, as I can't even make it through a Lamisol commercial without changing the channel.
I'll post some more info as things progress and we'll definitely keep you on your toes!
see what I did there...? ;)
